Man I just went outside and there is a huge white ring around the moon, what the hell, I've never seen this before. I tried to get some pics but it doesn't show up on the picture. Go out and see if you can see it too!

It happens all the time. It's caused by light being refracted by ice crystals in the air. It means it's probably going to rain or snow soon. I saw it earlier here. It wasn't all that impressive at the time, but noticable.

It's called a lunar halo, and if you're lucky you can see solar halos too.
