I'd hate to see one of those in real life though.

I read the title as "...I found on my desk..."

I was trying to figure out how a mantis got in your office! LOL

I haven't seen one in years, but this year I've come across two. Both pregnant, which doesn't it's good for the males as they usually eat them after copulating.

There was one just outside the front door of my house the other day. Too bad winter's coming and they're all gonna freeze and die. :frown:

The Deadly Mantis................

......"The military use smoke and chemical bombs (maybe they contained Raid) to kill it, as the film mercifully ends."
-- Dennis Schwartz, OZUS' WORLD MOVIE REVIEWS

"An affront to the grace and dignity of giant bug movies."
-- Rob Vaux, FLIPSIDE MOVIE EMPORIUM

Just thought I would toss in the most famous mantis......

I read that typically the females DON'T eat the males, and that it's fairly uncommon in nature. The idea that they usually eat the males after copulation is based on very old observations done in labs where the praying mantises were kept without being properly fed, and the females were literally starving.

So the next time your wife says she's hungry.... you'd damn well better feed her fast.

I love that movie! I even bought the model kit diorama for a friend for his birthday because he was a fan, too.

We had one of these in a bush out in front of my parents place when I was little. She took over an hour to eat the male that porked her.

Amorphus:
> I like Viper's pics. esp. #3.

Except for that tiny thumbnail. Ugh, it looks nearly ingrown. People with small fingernails are creepy.
