Look at my puffers

Had them for 1.5 years. They are doing quiet well. Tank is so under stocked, I barely need to take out water to maintain it's cleanliness. I need to replace the heater tho, something is wrong with it. gets hotter than usual lately. Not taking any chances keeping it in there. Took it out. So it's cooler than usual rite now until I get a replacement. I ideally I want it at 80-82 degrees f when I get the new heater. Oh yea, I know, I need to replace evaporated water. I do this when it gets this low.

I have issues keeping my tropical tank cool enough in the summertime since the room the tank is in has no AC. Below 80f is safe and 72-74f is ideal... I frequently see 85 which increases the risk of parasites.



So far this year it hasn't been too bad but it's gotten to the point where I've needed a fan blowing over the tank along with near daily small cold-water changes to keep temps under control in the past.

My brother had a puffer for about 12 years. Amusing little guy (or gal, IDK) would nibble on your fingertips and take food from your hand. This was better when it was younger, not so much later on as it got bigger because it could get more flesh into it's mouth and bite hard enough to break the skin. He would actually bop the glass to get people's attention. Like, hey over here!

Surprisingly Puffer-fish will decimate most other fish you put in with them. They're not a good choice for a "community" tank unless your going for survival of the fittest!

Yeah I found that out as a kid, all the other fish in the tank disappeared except for the puffer I had. The only other thing that survived was a little crab I had in there.

The only thing(s) in my brother's tank with the puffer all those years were feeder fish and species with robust exteriors that prefer to hide away in stuff, anyway. e.g. shrimps that had a protective house. And aquarium fleas!
