Tip #1:
Mount the motherboard first.
Tip #2:
Hard drives can usually be mounted in any orientation.
Tip #3:
Cut AFTER you fit.
Tip #4:
Find long screws.
You can make them shorter, but you can't make screws longer.

<-- learned this while making a system out of a Baby AT board fit in a case as long as a baby at board, as wide as a baby at board, and as tall as a Soundblaster AWE64, (plus half an inch for the external itself 9x10x6" total), and then shoving it into a 12" monochrome monitor after adding features.

Here is a pic of the motherboard set up how I'm going to mount it. http://www.tortoisehead.com/trashcan/trashcan4.jpg
It's angled like that so that the hard drive has room to protrude, which it has to do because of the foam mounted on the bottom of the trash can. If the motherboard was mounted on the same plane as the PSU, the PSU wires would make it impossible to plug it in.

That is a piece of plexiglass the mobo is sitting on. I'll glue the studs to it with epoxy.

That's pretty sweet! But where do you get the 110v AC to plug into the psu? Please don't tell me you bought one of those AC/DC converter jobbies for this.:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

I'm powering it with a 200W DC-AC inverter. It works fine. If it's good enough for someone with a website on the subject, it's good enough for me.

Do what now?

Actually I'm using a gamepad. Works decently, but it would be better if I could change playlists with the gamepad. My friend is supposed to be working on a Winamp plugin that allows that :).
Someday, it will have a touchscreen.

You can use a gamepad, but I didn't find a plugin that worked the way I wanted it to so I just used a keypad made for a laptop. It only cost $6.

Also, it's a fully functioning computer with an 80gb hard drive and limited gaming ability.

So you can play games and download movies while you drive?

Also, why circular? The thing's going to be rolling all over the place whenever you go around a turn, unless you bolt it down or something.

I'm going to take it out of the car to play games and download movies. It's circular because it's a trash can.

What's the point of a computer in your car if you have to take it out to use it?

And "It's circular because it's a trash can" is about the dumbest response to a question I've seen lately. Are you just going to let it roll around in the trunk because it's a trash can?

The point is that it plays mp3s and is in a trash can. It's about the bling bling factor.

It's not going to roll around... I'm going to put some bolts though those perforations to prevent rolling.
