1. PC will be used for gaming, coding, and distributed computing.
2. My budget is roughly $1600
3. Buying from USA
4. I prefer the seagate hard drive.
5. I already have a monitor, dvd burner, and mouse/keyboard.
6. Yes, I've read threads similar
7. I'd like to OC, it's been a few years since I have.

Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower
Tuniq Tower 120
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield
2x G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 - 4GB Total (4x1gb)
EVGA Geforce 8800GTX
Cooler Master 650w PSU
Seagate Barracude 500gb /16mb
Windows Vista Home Basic - 32bit
Gigabyte DS3L

Total - $1604

I plan on backing up the hard drive onto an external drive(not included in budget). I know that 4gb is not even usable in Vista 32bit, but I want to max out the OS. Might consider some cheap (~$50) speakers as well.

This PSU: http://clubit.com/search.cfm?keyword=520hx&cat=all

The coolermaster, which I own myself, is rather loud, I had to replace the fan coz it was driving me nuts. It's not modular either. Which the 520hx is. And you don't need those 700w from the OCZ. And the 520hx is a better qaulity unit, and comes for less money ... If you don't like the 520hx for whatever silly reason, then pick a different 500-600w PSU. More is unnecesary.

Btw, the case you picked, it has 80mm fans, those are noisier then 120mm fans. I'd go pick something that has 120mm fans instead. I bumped into this today: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811146027 comes in several colors, and I dunno, it didn't look to shabby. Antec 900 would be a good choice too, but will be more expensive... And waddaya know, they are on sale at clubit.com http://clubit.com/search.cfm?keyword=apollo&cat=all

I've got to find out what 120mm fans are in there though, you don't want superloud casefans that drive you nuts...

That NXZT looks great. In the price range that I want, plus as you said, the 120mm fans are better. I knew this, but kinda blanked out when looking.

If you are going with 4 GB of ram, you must get Vista x64 (64 bit), otherwise you will not make use of all this amount of ram.

Sup Bill? My opinion:

Case: Cooler Master 690 $65, $45AR
Reviewers claim this could have easily carried a $150 sticker. And yes, it will fit the GTX. It's also a fine looking case.

Power Supply: Corsair VX550 $100, $80AR
Well-reviewed, quality CWT-built unit.

Video Card: You can save $40-$50 by getting a reference-clocked 8800GTX. The factory overclock is nice but not worth ~$50 IMHO. You can always boost the speeds yourself. And yes, EVGA's warranty covers overclocking (along with aftermarket cooling).

The rest of it is fine. Pretty much any P35-motherboard from Gigabyte/Asus/Abit will do so pick one based on price & features (PCI-E slots, SATA ports, Firewire, Northbridge cooling etc.) And yes, you would need Vista x64 to actually use all four gigs.

corsair 520hx for 80$ AR at clubit.com. I tihnk the MSI gtx is the best GTX you can buy, since it's factory overclocked and costs LESS then the evga gtx.
