Longhorn question

I heard they are putting in a new "gamers mode" for Longhorn that is supposedly going to give You increased performance in games because windows will shut down "unnecessary" processes while You are gaming.

My question is this.....How much of a performance gain if any is this? Will it shut down everything but the tcp/ip stack so You get awsome, no program layer, hardware only performance or is it just going to drop some lame printer spooler or the task scheduler lol.

I could see that as being a pretty significant gain. Explorer.exe alone can be a hog at times, in addition to all the zillions of things that fall under the svchost.exe (all 14,000 instances of it).

Hopefully you can select which processes/applications are still allowed such as: firewall, Tv scheduling (I'd hate to miss my program afterall!), antivirus, etc...

One thing I hope DOESN'T happen though, is for it to take 5 minutes to load/unload everything to/from RAM and a pagefile.
