Longest USB 2.0 Cable

Just curious where, how much, how long do usb 2.0 cables come in. The A to B kind. Longest I could find was 10 feet...needless to say, I need longer. If they don't come any longer, is there a sort of female-female adapter so you can chain another one? TIA.

bottom of the page 15'
another 15'

I need a USB cable to reach my USB printer 25 feet away from the PC. What do I do?

The maximum length any USB cable is rated for, without amplification, is 15 feet. There are stories of people using several extenders to reach up to 40 feet but USB.org (site has all the White Papers, etc.) notes there could be significant data loss doing this. We strongly discourage using more than 15 feet. The best recommendation would be to use a 15 foot USB A/B cable going to a powered USB hub, then add an USB cable from the powered USB hub to the intended or target device. Add a powered USB hub every 15 feet. If all you need is 20 feet, you could use two ten foot cables with the powered hub. For the 25 feet in this example, you could use a 15 foot A/B cable, the powered USB hub, then a ten foot A/B cable.

hope this helps

Thanks man! That was extremely helpful!!!! Dang that 2nd link you gave has much higher prices 🙁. Just so people know why I was wondering this, I'm doing a car project soon involving putting a computer in my car and I was contemplating where to place it. I decided to do it right behind the passengers in the backseat in the stowaway shelf right under the rear deack glass lid. Since a ribbon cable can't reach that far, I would have to get an external usb 2.0 drive bay and use that to connect to my dvd-rom in my dash (which hopefully will fit one inside an external drive enclosure 🙁 ).

you might find this more usefull then

Just curious. How would that be more helpful than just buying a 15' A/B? Also, how are extensions sold? Like female to male usb cable or do they have just a female female adapter? I think 15' is all I need. Well I'm hoping it's all I need 🙁.

Well, if you need something really really long, you'd have to rely upon some sort of extension. Also, I think it would work if your just used regular usb hubs as repeaters.
