I'm currently unemployed because I'm still obtaining my work visa... I'm going on a month now... It's pretty hard to cope with. I've saved up money since I expected this to happen but that doesn't make it any easier.

a weekend, er well, technically 2 weekends and the week in between, but that time i needed the week in between jobs to move, otherwise it would have only been a weekend

so since i joined the navy in april 1986, i have been unemployed 13 days

I have worked since I was 14 ... just stopped for school here and there, but not longer than a couple months (had school jobs too)... I don't think I can stand not working... feels like a waste. So until I win the lottery...

When I graduated, I took about 6months off before finding a new job. I did absolutely nothing!

6 weeks. In was a blast the first 3-4 weeks. My yard never looked so good, then I started getting nervous.

5-8 months, but I was a 21 year old fulltime college student with a pocket full of student loan money and a house, for which my roommate paid half the expenses. What a fun year that was...

Now that I'm older, married, and a parent, I can't imagine being out of work for more than a couple weeks. I'd be very nervous...

Never since I left college - hopefully never.
Of course wasting all this time on AT isn't going to improve those odds.

I got a job at age 16. There hasn't been a single day I've been without at least 1 job since. I'm 30 now.

I think maybe a week at most since I left the Navy in 1978. When I was laid off in May 2004 I started working as a substitute teacher and had a full time job by the time my severance ran out.

I've been employed every day since my 16th birthday.
I've never left a job without having something lined up and accepted.

9 months-1 year. I had some odds-n-ends jobs, but nothing steady while my brother was really sick and I was caretaking. It was rough.

When i first started Construction work as a Millwright, I was off for 6 months the first year, about 4 the 2nd year, then got pretty steady after that.
The CM firm I am currently employed by got really slow in '03, and after a couple of months sitting in the office twiddling my thumbs, I decided to sign up on Unemploymen Benefits and kick back at home.
It was almost 11 months before I got to go back to work!
Thankfully, Unemployment Office let me receive benefits for 9 months of that, after two 6 week extensions.

That must be tough.

After 2.5 years of searching, you found a job only to be laid off the next month. ouch.

Do you think it might be time to re-educate yourself? learn a new trade?

June 10, 1971.

Laid off from TRW. This was a very bad time as far as the US economy was concerned.

Got a job 6 weeks later as a Plant Superintendent. Hated it...long hours....long drive (1 1/2 hours each way).

March 1972....back at TRW. Stayed there to retire.
