Longbow 2 help needed

I decided to try a helicopter sim and traded for Longbow 2. Unfortunately, it doesn't want to run on my system (P4-1.6@2.1/P4B266-C/8500/W98SE). It installed fine, the scenes at the beginning play fine, and I can get to the the opening scene (the base) but it will not start a mission, instant action, or flight training. Instead it crashes to my desktop. Anyone have a suggestion what I might try or what I might be overlooking? I can't seem to find a lot of information for this game - too old I guess.

the problem I found with these older games is that they require an older version of openGL. I'm not saying that's the problem but who knows. I have Longbow2 and I really liked that game, I just wish that Janes would make one that is more compatible with today's hardware. I have the same problem with Kingpin.

Thanks for the suggestion, haven't thought of that. Its easy to get caught up in the thinking that newer is better. This weekend I'll put a spare hd in a second comp that I have, do a fresh install of W95, and see how it runs on that.

If anyone's curious - Longbow 2 worked fine after I limited memory to 366mb (Msconfig/Advanced), a bug in the game.
