Long term storage: external HDD, DVD/BR-D, something else?

I'm trying to come up with a storage plan for an HD camcorder that records at 11GB/hr.

Seems I could have a couple redundant drives in my PC, and then backup to BR-D. Or should I return the flash camcorder and get something that simply uses mini-DV tapes? That way I would have all the video backed up on the tapes simply.

I'd just go with 1TB drives... keep them somewhere off site (work/safety deposit box?) when you've filled them up

That's what I was thinking. Using a pair of 1TB drives, keep one in a small safe at home, and another offsite. And then just keep adding pairs when those are filled.

easiest will be the TB drives. Not the most reliable unfortunately. Luckily I only deal w/ photos right now.. I can manage multiple drives and online backup. 11GB/hr... ugh..

Part of me says go to tape.. sooo easy to have a backup. But that'll degrade too if not properly kept. A combination or a NAS or Drobo + BR recorder is probably your best bet.
