Germany - A German psychologist has concluded long-term relationships and good sex are "an impossible combination".

Dr Michael Mary says following years of research as a sex therapist in Berlin he has found trying to continue having satisfying sex in an exclusive relationship is futile.

His recipe for getting boring love life going again is to cheat on your partner.

He said: "It is impossible to get everything together. To have trust and harmony and at the same time the level of passion and desire one experiences on the first day simply doesn't exist."

Dr Mary, who has recently published a book called Five Lies Concerning Love, also warned that putting a lot of effort into working towards creating a fulfilled sex life in long-term relationships was for nothing.

He stated: "It is better to accept living with the discrepancy between sexual desire and long-term love." - Ananova.com

I don't agree, there are certain(which are many) people whose conscious actions take precident over their instinctive nature.

Cheat on your spouse and then come see me when you want to work it out!

I disagree by the way.

Well that's irrefutable evidence -- since it's possibly true in the opinion of one therapist treating Germans with sex problems it must be true for everyone!

It's a sad state of affairs with leading sociologists and psychologists whom rather "test" their hypothesis on methodology used by natural scientists. There finding are often misconstrued and unless they have done deeply involved interviews with people; their findings are all a small sample of what the greater people at large behave. One can never to straw polls and simple questionare's to find out the real reason people do what they do

(Which they deconstruct later on and point out fundamentaly that the social/psychological sciences are inherant to fail.... [so what is there reason of being?])
