I couldn't find much info at erowid, and I'm curious what the long term effects are of cocaine are, both physical and psychological. Anybody got any links or something? Thx.

It will destroy your nasal cavity eventually. Brain damage is a long term side effect.

I don't want to know why you're asking but if you're curious, stay far far away from it.

constant bloody nose, racing heart, teeth grinding..i don't see any repercussions from cocaine.

"Long-term use may cause repetitive episodes of heart spasm, and this may cause endothelial damage and subsequent acceleration of cardiovascular disease.
Chronic intake of cocaine depletes dopamine, leading to the intense depression described by addicts. This depletion triggers a cycle of craving for cocaine and temporary relief of depression by further cocaine ingestion.
Increased cocaine misuse results in higher demand on emergency departments and hospital admissions, and higher rates of mortality.

Poverty does not necessarily have to happen. My father has drug problems dating back to his time in the Army in Vietnam in the early 70's, and specifically cocaine problems from the mid to late 70s. He still works in the same place since 1973. Psychologically, he is difficult to handle at times. he forgets entire conversatoins ever happened, and therefore wants to talk about something more than once, he can be very irresponsible at times. i compare it to giving like $1000 to a 12 year old kid. of course the kid is going to blow the money away. it is all, in a word, difficult. in addition, he does not suffer from nosebleeds frequently. however, i do, and i have never touched the stuff. it isnt as bad now as when i was younger (I am 23 now) but i will have nosebleeds for no reason whatsoever at any time. they can just randomly start. after years of this, and having my nose cauterized more than once, and seeing eye, ear, nose, and throat doctors, nobody was ever able to give me a good reason as to why this happened. well, eventually i found that this can be an inherited trait. the inner lining of my nose is that of someone who has done cocaine for years. so that is something that was passed on to me from cocaine. think about that the next time somebody wants to do a line.

That's a load of Bullocks. Doing a sh!tload of coke isn't going to mutate your fathers genes so that he passes it on to a child

Yeah, I agree. Unless the mother did coke during pregnancy, the child shouldn't suffer physical effects. I'm sorry you get bloody noses frequently. Move to a more humid, lower pressure, maybe lower altitude environment.

Maybe you should keep trying to come up with a clever comeback. Sooner or later you will think of one

Its not the worst efffect by far but I think the neatest is getting a perforated septum. Nothing says party trick like passing a string up one side of your nose and pulling it down the other.

coke is horribly addicting, everytime you shoot or snort it you'll have to take larger dose, just to get the same effects as the first time.

just from person experience, most of the people that i personaly know, that have tried coke, have gone on to try other things. meth, herion, pcp... ect.

it's bad, stay far away.

the REAL long term effects with high usage can be seizures, strokes, and heart attacks. with low usage, you're looking at more psychological effects (depression, agitation, anxiety, paranioa...). and, of course, the holes in the nose. coke is physically and mentally addicting. it's also highly overrated, imo. you don't even know what changes until you've done it a few times, it's a very subtle drug. as soon as you know what to expect, it becomes more fun, but at that point it's become too expensive anyway. my advice is to just say no, there are more fun illegal ways to spend $20 ;)

Actually the vast majority that have used it eventually quit drugs all together. Only a small minority actually become addicted and even a smaller minority progress onto Heroin or PCP. Some do go to meth because of the similar high.
