Ever since I've had a PC capable of sustaining a solid frame rate, I've noticed that it's never quite *smooth* in ANY 3D game where I can sustain a solid 60fps, from Quake 1 to Doom 3 and newer. It can best be described as a small jerking motion every 2-3 seconds, as if it stalls for a second and then jerks forward to where it's actually supposed to be. It's mostly noticeable during pans and not forward movement, but it's still always there.
My most recent example is when I bought the original Unreal game from Steam, which has a looping flyby of a castle when you start the game. Even with this ancient title and a card more than capable of sustaining 60++++fps, it still happens, with or without vsync enabled.
I've owned ATI, and nVidia cards (from TNT to my current 4870 1GB) and all of them have done it, and it *does not* happen on console systems. It's incredibly minor yet still annoying that it isn't completely smooth. What would cause that? It can't be hardware specific since I've had a 100 different combination of hardware in my machines over the last 10 years.
