Looking for a new place, and not finding anything for a reasonable price. The place here just upped rent $110/mo (yes, one hundred ten bucks!) to $910/mo. Insane, 1BR apartment. The $800 I was previously paying I can no longer afford even. Yeesh. I had a nice job, but got laid off. Unemployment is about to run out, so I'm going to have to get what I can get ($12/hr job about.. not very much take-home, like $1100/mo. blah.), and the living costs need to go down. I currently have $1600/mo in essential bills, nothing optional except cable modem. Half of that is rent. The other half is just phone bill+electricity+internet+car/ins. My car is nothing fancy, 92' lumina, paying $150/mo for a payment (about $700 or so left on it) and paying the current owner $75/mo for insurance (ins. would be about $140/mo under my name. insane.). That leaves about $200 for my son, on average per month (clothing, formula, essentials) and $175/mo for groceries.
I can obviously fudge about $100 or so, but it wouldn't be fun. So I'm trying to find a much cheaper place to live.
Anyways, enough of the whining.
Wondering if someone around here either is renting out like a basement or something, duplex, anything for cheaper, or knows of a decent cheap place to live. I don't need anything fancy, just hopefully something semi-close to the cities so I can get to a job w/o wasting tons of cash in gas, and something where my fiance will feel safe (i.e. not ghetto northside Mpls, I grew up there.. *shudder*).
Anyways, it's a long shot. But I'm not finding anything. The housing market here is completely skewed, I have NO clue how people like janitors can live. They must work about 3 jobs to make ends meet. yeesh.
