I can't get it to install...I've had no problem with a couple of other systems, but for some reason, I can't get this one (the one I actually want) to install. I think I'm having problems with the PEAR part of it, but I've tried to follow the instructions in the docs (yes, I have read the docs...)

Any hints?

tiki is a very hard install. it took me way too long to install. at least 1.5hrs. really was not worth it since it then takes a long time to get it configured. does it do everything you want it to do? what errors are you getting?

I tried and wasn't able to install tiki... I used e-rice hosting. For me I think part of it may have been that the mySQL was limited to the minimum needed for tiki (8mb I believe). I gave up and switched to Mambo.

I highly recommend mambo if you ever want to switch. Very clean format, easy to install, easy to manage. Theres a new version in the works, it should come out sometime this week (or next) and supposedly integrates with phpbb (the user database). Mambo Website

Yeah, I love it. Not as easy as phpbb to install, but maybe that will change when version 4.5 comes out (thats the version to be released soon). Either way, it only took me like 30 minutes to set up. Thats saying a lot since I got no php skills.

A week ago today they said they found some security bugs and delayed the release for a week. So I hope sometime within the week. Previous upgrades have been painless, but then again it was mostly just bug fixes. v4.5 is supposed to be very much improved upon, so it might need more work to upgrade, but usually they try to make everything fairly painless. I'd give it a go now, by the time you get used to it, the new version should be out.

Let me know if you need any help.

My website isn't up right now. Plus, I don't know php so I wanted to change some things and haven't learned enough to do what I wanted yet. Basically all I can do is add things and reorder them.

oh ok. well, i'm trying to change the name of my site and some of the text in it. i know that most of it is from the administrator page and you can add and delete the faqs and news and stuff, but i can't find where it gets my site name and all that junk. and i'm working on reorganizing the layout. i think that's from the theme php file.

To change the site name, can't you do that in the config.php file? I don't have it with me, but it should have a //site name entry.
