I have a HTPC set up in my living room and the wireless keyboard & mouse combo I have is not cutting it in the range department. Many peripherals claim they have the range of 10-15 ft, as does the logitech combo I'm using right now, but unless I am on the perfect surface and battery fully charged I cant get further than 5 feet range. Any recommendations for a relatively low cost solution? Thanks.

RF for sure, I use Lenovo Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901 and it works great from about 20 25 feet away... (kitchen table - TV in the living area). You can get it for about 40 - 45 $s now, or be on the lookout for deals and you can get it for 25 - 30 $

Bluetooth provides the greatest range. It's what I use for my HTPC.

Logitech Dinovo Edge + cheap USB BT 2.0 dongle is all you need. It's what I use on my HTPC.

gyration remotes are pretty killer too

i use a cheap $13 microsoft 4000 bluetrack mouse, and a cheap $17 mini bluetooth keyboard. works well since most of the time i just use my harmony remote, then when i need a mouse the bluetrack works amazingly well... and for the rare times i need to type something in the mini keyboard is better then the OSK.

I have a logitech K320 keyboard with a "unified" nano-receiver. It works from across the room from my TV/HTPC. Haven't had any issues with it, works great. Also use a generic IR remote for mouse movement and selection.
