Anyone have experience with building a Long Range Wi-Fi network? I live 5 miles from my small business office and would like to install a couple Parabolic Long Range Wi-Fi antennas. I just have no experience with this and was wondering how reliable to connection will be.

Any input is much appreciated. Going to research as much as possible today but figured someone here probably has done it already.

If you have a totally clean line of sight between two Antennae it might work.

Otherwise, forget about it, and go through the Internet using some form of remote control like UltraVNC.

We use them like this at work with cisco wireless bridges but you MUST have 100% clear line of sight, trees etc will kill you at this distance.

Ours havent went down in the 3 years ive been here

Don't forget fresnel zone. There must also be a radius of clear air along the path. There are plenty of calculators online to calculate it for you along with dealing with the curvature of the earth on how high you must mount the antennas.
