Lately whenever i go to open a <1kb notepad file, it takes liek a long time, like 7 seconds, i can understand it if my computer has many things running such as unzipping a file or running azureus.... but if i turn on the computer, log on and open the file it takes time to open ( i've waited for windows oto finish loading and stuff too)
also, right clicking takes longer than usual... as does shift deleting files.... sometimes it takes forever to get to the prompt to make sure you wish to delete it
i dont know what it could be, i am 100% sure it isnt ad ware or malware cause i run ad aware often and i use hijack this.
i defrag often too

384 mb ram
6 gig hdd (windows)
15.9 gig hdd (late addition but it was working fine when i added this)
integrated everything...
I am running windows xp on this, DO NOT tell me i need to upgrade or anything, this system is fine and used to run xp nicely, i could format it but i do not have the time currently as school keeps me busy.
I have two ideas as too what it is but if you have anythign to suggest please let me see it...
1. Compressed files - I run the disk clean up thingy from when you right click on your hdd in my computer and hit properties. And compress teh old stuff, the stuff that hasnt been used in 50 days.... i dont think this is it but if soemone could suggest a way to undo all them compressed files i will try it as i have the space now...
2. A virus, although i do not utilize a software firewall(i have a router) or a anti virus program, i am 99% sure that it is not this. I am not some child who clicks on everything that pops up, i know whats good and whats not, and nothing i downloaded or sites i went too seemed suspicious
