i have an MSI K7T Pro2-A, duron 800, pc133 512mb SDRam, 20gb 7200rpm ATA66 Western Digital Hard Drive, Voodoo5 5500 AGP, and a Netgear FA311TX 10/100 Network card. i dont know what happened, it used to be really fast. now, all of a sudden, it takes literally 20 seconds to get past the Verifying DMI Pool data screen when it used to be barely visible it went so fast. Also, some of my peripherals wont show up on the start-up detecting IDE screen...the same screen that counts the ram and the cpu speed, etc. also, when this started, sometimes even my operating system acts weird. in win2k, when i enter my password, sometimes it just asks for my password over and over again, but doesnt say its wrong. i restart, and it works fine, or does it again, until i have to again restart. any ideas?

I would start pulling components, because it sounds like you might have hardware in early failure. Cards having a hard time responding to Interrupt Requests. Are you running an overclocked FSB that is pushing the PCI bus? I think I might start with your network card, but it could be any component (Hard drives are common problems for high fsb failures). Since its happening during the bios setup phase, I am pretty sure its couldn't be software. It could be bios settings though, if you changed any settings recently then you might try changing them back. Also does it behave this way at normal clock speed?

its not overclocked at all. it says it is in my profile, but i turned it all down. i wasnt sure if i changed anything in the bios, so i just reset the cmos anyways. i have a blue orb on the chipset if that makes a difference.

but actually i need to start a new thread because my computer just turned off and now it wont turn back on at all. this is starting to worry me.
