Alright, so here's what happened...

Problem developed with the computer, my brother got on and he said that stuff was all blurry and I was out of resolution.

So he restarted, and when he restarted it goes through the normal booting screen, the WinXP Black Screen, than when its supposed to go to the blue log in screen, it never comes up.

I opened up the case, took a looksy at things and cleaned out the heatsink and vid card fan with compressed air and got rid of the rest of hte dust. Its shown no problems until now.

Specs: XP2000, Maxtor 120 GB, GEForce 4400, 512 MB pc2100...

Updated drivers off nVidia's site...

Update: I got it back in its original res, but can't get color or into regular windows now. Maybe a software issue? I can get into Windows using Safe Mode, but regular Windows still wont bring up the blue login screen.

Thanks

Boot to last known good configuration. If that does not work, remove video card, reinstall card, boot. Uninstall anything to do with the video card and start fresh with drivers.

I'm beginning to think that its a software issue.

When I go to display properties, it doesn't read my card it just reads the "Default Card" and I can change res, just not back into the proper color setting (32 Bit is as high as it goes).

I can get into everythign perfectly through safe mode and be in 1024x768, just not with regular settings.

Also tried the Last Good Config last night, didn't work.

Have you tried "System Restore"? Worth a shot.

Safe Mode/Start Button/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Pick a restore date before this problem started happening.

Try AMDskip's suggestion. Uninstall all video drivers you can find. Go into the Device Manager and remove all the video stuff there too. Then download 2 sets of drivers: the newest 52.xx drivers, and if that dosn't work then the 45.xx driver. I think 45.33 was that last on in that series.

Alright, thanks for the help guys.

Uninstalling the vid card and reinstalling the drivers did the trick.

Thanks alot.

What could of caused this? Maybe the vid card overheated?

The fan on the vid card was pretty full of dust when I cleaned it out...
