I have a Win2K machine that takes a loooong time to log in to a Windows 2K Server domain. After 5-10 minutes at the "logging on..." screen, the desktop will finally come up, and everything seems normal. However, if I unplug the network cable before or during the log on, it boots up normally (<1 minute or so). Of course, the mapped network drives don't connect, but as soon as I plug the cable back in, they connect fine. No other workstations in the office have this problem.
I am not sure when this problem started (it's a client's computer), but the only change I've made to it in the past month is having a new user log on to their domain account on this computer (both users on this machine experience the slow login).
The problem must be the communication between client and server, but is there any way to log which part of that communication is causing the delay? And, is there any way to speed up the log in?
Cheers in advance.
