HARARE (Reuters) - Long lines queues built up around Zimbabwe Saturday as voters waited for hours to vote in a violence-scarred election that will decide whether President Robert Mugabe can extend his 22-year-rule.

Opposition challenger Morgan Tsvangirai said he would seek an extension of the two-day poll, saying the government's sharp reduction in the number of polling stations in his urban strongholds would deny many people the chance to vote.

Free elections and the rule of democracy haven't exactly had an easy time on the African continent over the years... i'm hoping for the best, but realistically i'm expecting much less 🙁
