Any experienced McD worker (and presumably those at other fast food joints) can make several burgers at once. I remember back when I was 17 I would do 4 or 5 at a time.

if all you was makeing was 4-5 at once you sucked. (unless this back in the 40's or so)

on 12 to 1 patties we would make a dozen at once. on 4-1 patties we would do 8.

it was easy.

put buns in toaster
put patties in clam shell
pull buns out of toaster
dress buns
put cheese on cheeseburgers
pull patties off shel onto buns

done.

haha. our place wasn't busy enough to require making any more at once. it's strangely satisfying making a crapload of burgers at once.

i work at dairy queen, and during the summer, we had plenty of people working. since school started, pretty much like 5 of our 9 guys left....so we have like 2 - 3 people total a day...doing drive thru and inside....fvcking ridiculous.....i think im gonna quit.

I've worked in fast food as a manager. Customers would rather wait in line than wait for food. However must burger places one cook can do multiple orders at one time(unless they are extremely large orders).

hmm.. that seems the opposite to what everyone is saying in this thread

This was just in my experiance. I worked for a regional franchise, and the store I worked at was the #2-3 store in the franchise. We would get slammed between 11:30-1:30 and 5:00-7:00. The dining and drive thru backed up. We usually had 14 people working a rush, sometimes that 14 would have two managers and an assistant manager, other times 13 people and 1 manager. People rarely complained about the wait in the line, but they would always complain if they had to wait more than a few minutes on their food. The vast majority of the time people would wait five to ten minutes to order, but once they ordered their food would be ready by the time the ordered was paid out, or close to it.

heh the McDonalds i worked at was on the campus of NIU in dekabl IL.

this was a normal hour. during lunch/dinner or if a bus came it was far far worse. I remember a few times having both 12-1 grills going nonestop. so we would have 2 dozen being made at once. It would take roughly 40 seconds to make 2 dozen hamburgers at a time heh.

i would much rather wait sitting down with a cold soda in my hand and a newspaper to read than have to stand in line waiting to place my order.

Send in a compalint via the website and they'll send you some coupons for free fries and things like that. That's what they usually do for me anyway...

i worked at McDucks in high school (84-86) and i actually liked working the grill when it was busy. the amount of food one can pump out was amazing. and back then we still had the styrophome containers and the warming bins. but on breaks we all would get creative on making our lunch. i loved making my own big macs with double meat and sauce.
