There is talk about the Canon 8200 with archival inks, HP announces new 20 year old paper lightfastness, and new Epson printers. All I want to do is print 4x6 and 8x10 family photos on glossy or matte paper that will last! Is that too much to ask?. I'm not interested in the Epson 2000 it's a bit above my budget. Which printer would anyone recommend for the type of photos I'm trying to print.(the Epson 870 with it's supposed "orange shift" problem makes me unsure about that printer) I hope someone can give an honest educated response.

it's not the printer, it's the ink.

i don't know if epson reformulated their inks yet...

the problem was due to the cyan (the bluish) reacting with ozone (O3) in the air.

this makes me apprehensive about getting epson, but does not scare me away...

it's very confusing =)

Well, it might be cheaper to just print the ones you want at the photo shop. Just find one that prints digital pix.

The reason I say that is because the photo paper is ultra expensive, and so on top of the hardware costs, the ongoing costs are quite high as well.
