long island ice teas = dah wasted

They have to make them good. Plenty of liquer, but enough mix to keep you from noticing it & grabbing another. So many places make them terrible. Definately my favorite drink.

we made them homemade..

from scratch. non of that mixer crap..

1oz gin
1oz tequila
1oz vodka
1oz rum
1oz triple sec
splash of cola
splash of sweet n sour mix
 
have you ever had a long island on long island? i haven't ... yet.

i have however, had a manhattan on manhattan

Thats how I make em- usually use a full shot though (1.5oz)

Does it taste good? The whole great thing about the LI is that it's tasty & mixes so well. I'd be on my 3rd before I'd notice that it had that much alcohol in it.

Tastes wonderful. Just make sure they add a little cranberry in there. My favorite mixed drink.

yeah thats what i used today. full shot glass worth of each cept the cola and sour mix.

plus we put machino cherrys in.
 
long island is one of those safe drinks that pretty much all bartenders know how to make properly... sometimes i order drinks at different places and the bartender looks at me like 😕
 
I don't know how many times ppl have told me
"dude, I drank a few long island ice tea and don't remember what happened" 😀

I disagree much so. I've had guys use just lemon or lime instead of sour mix, whiskey instead of rum or tequila, eye measuring off the charts, & slushing it around with ice like a martini. It's my fault that I order these things at family type restaurants, where the bartender is also a waiter on the side.
 
I love these. One bar had $5 pitchers of LI before the city made them stop heh.


some places make them wrong. they are usually to strong (flavor wise). But there is a little bar that makes them just great. $5 for a good size glass pitty they limit you to 2 a night heh

Same here, I had been having Sapphire, but a friend told me about Tanqueray, I like it better, its stronger.
 
i dont see how you can screw one up. all the ingrediants in a shaker. shake. pour. add sour. squeeze lemon, pour cola.

am i missing the confusing part?
 
A long island is one of those drinks that no matter how strong it is it's still very drinkable.

Compared to say a rum & coke or something, too much rum (but still less alcohol than in a LI) and it'll taste like crap.
 
Used to drink them at clubs constantly! Best I ever had was in this bar in Geneva Switzerland...they served them in 1.5 liter glasses! HUGE!

Blackhause, wow that's some crazy stuff. I use to go camping with my uncles & drink that stuff. You didn't by chance drink some Dr. McGillicuddy's did you. Those two always go hand & hand, though not together.
