Depends. Most look better w/ long hair, some either, and some short.

It depends on the chick's face and features. Some chicks look great with short hair but the majority of them look better with long. Alyssa without a doubt looks better with short

If she's goin' for the Jamie Lee Curtis look, she nailed it. Now, perhaps she should find some glue and stick that hair back on her head and get back to lookin' hot.

For Ms. Milano or in general (for women)? I believe she looks sexier with shoulder length hair.. Lets you pay more attention to her wonderful features..

For women in general (if you plan on getting a haircut soon and that's why you're asking) then try to understand the mind of your AVERAGE anandtecher-.. Us anandtechers are mostly insecure, sad men that feel threatened by strong women.. We prefer girls that are ultra "feminine," bordering on child like in appearance and behavior (A grown woman in pigtails saying "Daddy, can I have a lollipop" type stuff).. We prefer the submissive, the weak, the needy over the strong.. So long hair is a link to our preconceived notions of femininity and male dominance.. Short hair is subconsciously seen as a reminder of the feminist movement.. Post a "pant or dress on a women" poll and you'll get similar results.. My point is, if you're looking for advice here for yourself then.. well, don't!

My opinion? Depends on the person.. Long hair works on some women that are tall enough and skinny enough to pull it off or have very sharp, strong bone structure (Trinity from the matrix would look nice with long hair).. Shorter hair (shoulder length) is often seen as more fun, stronger, and sometimes helps highlight nice facial features such as gorgeous eyes and, nice lips or nice cheeks.. Again, GENERALLY speaking, long hair emphasizes the body while short hair emphasizes the face.. Of course, it's all about what you like and what makes you happy in the end...

P.S. I remember you posting a poll about picking a dress to wear to an event... Remember how most people voted for the out of fashion asian looking dress? That emphasizes two points a) anandtechers don't have very good fashion sense and b) they like the subconscious reminder of the oppressed, submissive, child like stereotype of asian women (not saying that it's true at all- my sister is a strong, kick ass asian woman but I'm talking about the stereotype)...

Definitely depends on the person.

Not super long down the middle of the back, but around shoulder length is just right.

You posted pics of women. Women = long hair RULES. Some look really great with short hair but I still just love long hair.

On guys, or myself in particular - short hair for sure. Some dudes can pull off the long hair thing, but not many.

it depends on the girl and her facial features (how big her head is, how skinny, how round, etc etc)
