Here are some of the better pics that I took a few weeks ago while searching for pictures to take for October's secondary contest. Critiquing would be appreciated very much.

I can see where you're trying to go with some of your compositions. You just need to develop a cleaner sense of it.

Leading lines

You're trying to lead with the lights into the shot. The street in the background becomes unnecessary. And since we know they're lights, go ahead and let them blow out and let the exposure come up more. We want to see the people that you're trying to lead us to.

Clean isolation

Straightened and centered, that'd be a clean shot. Centered isn't a bad thing.

The rest don't catch my eye. But keep shooting, figure out why things catch your attention, and understand how to communicate that.

Using an old tripod has a few problems....ie not level anymore. It was after midnight when I shot the first one you mentioned....it was a 20 second shot a f/4.5(wide open on my lens). I just liked the people walking, since its a very solemn memorial.

Thanks for the critique!

nice shots. but id straighten out some of the shots before posting. looks a lot better straight. and in this picture, it would look better if u had moved in and tilted the camera down a bit more to catch the tip being reflected as well. But you might need a WA lens for that

I did try to caputure the entire monument, but the Reflecting Pool was too short. I tried to go up on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, but there were a suprising number of people in the way (for being around midnight).
