Hello. I live in GA, and i am calling my friend in TX by just dialing 1 and his number. No, i do not have unlimited long distance, so i am trying to get some information on how much per minute is it usually. I mean, i know its different, i just need a range around how much i'm paying. Thanks

It could be anything from 2 cents to 20 cents or more. It completely depends on the plan you have with your phone company.

Don't you have any old bills with state-to-state long distance calls on them to reference?

Use a cell phone. They usually don't charge different amounts for long distance.

Best deal:

(1) Walk into Costco. (Maybe Walmart too, don't know because there's no Walmart by me).

(2) Buy a calling card there.

(3) You'll get about 1000 minutes for around $20.

I'm not sure about your area but when I was living alone the choices were a cell phone or a land line. The cell phone was $29.99/month and the land line was something like $26.99. With portablility and free long distance I don't see the reason for considering local phone service.

wow, i always thought if i called from my cell phone it will be muuuuch more. i have no idea about our plan, i just hope my parents don't kill me because i talk with my friend 1 hour a day like, 3 days a week. usually our bill is 25$ or something like that for local phone, i have a cell phone but never use it, although we still pay for it.

Depends on the plan. Most of the time they will give free evenings and weekends so it wouldn't really matter. Why don't you ask your parents?
