I'm running a small network in our office and need to setup a connection in our shop that is 250-300 yards as the crow flies.

anyone here tried this? can someone point me in the right direction? not sure of what products with offer this.

This is easily possible especially if there is a line of sight between the buildings. You are just going to need an access point that can support different types of antennas. You will want two directional antennas (Ex, Dish).

There is a whole flew of formulas that can be used to determine loss and gain.

pre-11n solutions are stated as to reach 400m. Belkin and Linksys have Pre-N solutions out right now, so go check em out. I've tested a few at work, and they go almost 550m (about 600y). I also have a cantenna at home that shoots to my friend's house for filesharing. Good stuff.

I built a Windsurfer shown on the following site. After installing this little critter on my WUSB54GS I was shocked by it's improvement. I normally saw one other AP besides mine in the area. With the Windsurfer installed I see 4 beside mine.

You might want to try a couple to see if it'll work for you. Although 2 Cantannas would be best. :)
