I wanna talk to a friend 100 miles away for free - I've tried using AIM's voice feature but it's very staticy, but still bearable. I'm not sure whether or not it's because of the microphone or because of AIM.
1) Both me and my friend are at college so we have a fast connection. So I'm guessing that isn't an issue. So other than connection speed, what are the main factors for clear internet telephony (such as the program itself, microphone/speaker quality, sound card, etc)?
2) What are some free programs that provide good voice quality for calls made over the internet (such as AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc)?
