I am currently planning a project. It is to make an 11 foot long model bridge (that functions to carry model trains over it). In terms of scale, the bridge will mimic what is about 350 feet in the real world. I'm not even sure such a train bridge exists. I want to stick with trusses, so no fancy things like suspension bridges.
So, while what I am doing might not be realistic in the "real world" I still want to create a sense that I atleast researched the issue.
So, if anyone knows what kind of truss would be best suited for long spans, please let me know.
From my research so far, I think a Baltimore (Pratt style) truss or a Whipple Trapezoidal truss are some good options. A third choice is the Pennsylvania-Petit (Pratt style) truss.
In terms of building, I think Baltimore truss is the easiest one to do. The Whipple truss is of interest.
So, anyone here have thoughts on other bridge truss designs tat I should consider?
Here is a link to some bridge truss styles:

Actually, this is the triple Whipple

I think it wouldn't be to bad to build. And it is of historical significance.
