long boot times with win2k and promise ata100

i know that this is a known issue and that there have been posts about this problem before, but i searched without finding the old stuff. anyway, i would like to shorten the boot time for win2k. i know that there's an issue with the promise ata100 drivers and i was wondering if anyone has found a fast set. the best i've found from the promise or asus (i have an a7v) websites have been build 35 from asus' site. i'd appreciate any help.

I have been following the "old stuff" that you have mentioned. As far as I know you can't help the boot up time if you have an external controller card installed. I ran into the same problem myself and tired to find a fix but never did. So in the end I just gave up and figure that I can make myself a cup of coffee after I press the power button!

If someone did find a way then please let us know!
