Long boot time on new box

I posted on here some time ago about this problem and I though I had fixed it, but now its occuring again. About 50 percent of the time I boot, I get stuck on the windows loading screen for at least 5 min, then windows finally loads. The only other problem that I have noticed is that when I am playing world of warcraft I will get memory errors and the game will crash. Here are my system specs

AMD X-2 3800 dual core processor
eVGA NF-41 SLI mobo
eVGA 7800 GT nvidia graphics card
OCZ 2gb (2 1gb sticks) DDR 400 dual channel RAM
Maxtor Diamondmax 10 300gb hard drive
Aspire-x superalien ATX case with 500w power supply
Windows XP Pro

I spent tons of time with an OCZ rep working on different RAM settings in the bios, and nothing seemed to help. I would get memtest errors sometimes, and none other times. About a month ago I did a fresh install and the problem went away. Yesterday I had to load java to work with an online class I am taking, and the problem started again, although I think that is just a coincidence. Could this have anything to do with usind a dual core processor? Should I buy new RAM and give that a shot? I do have all the current drivers, and the dual core processor drivers. Can anyone help me out here?

I just bought some new ram, and that didnt solve the problem. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I guess I'll try a new mobo next, unless someone can recommend something else.

What problem went away with a new OS install the slow boot or the memory errors? What problem came back after isntalling java. You need to be more clear on what the issue is and what you want fixed.

You need to go over your startup list and curtail the autoload crap.

Go to Start, Run, then type MSCONFIG and hit ENTER. Then go to the Startup tab and uncheck all the nonsense. Reboot and see if it gets better. Then go back and add things one at a time until you find the one or ones that are causing such a boot delay.

I'm having the same problem. The only startup items I have are AVG antivirus, and Creative helper service, but boot takes 75+ seconds. It shows the desktop but there's a long wait between the AVG icon and the LAN icon in the system tray.

How do you change what drivers are loaded in bootup? I've noticed in Bootvis that Nero.exe and other useless drivers have like 13 seconds of I/O time each.

Bootvis logs about 78 to 81 seconds for reboot. Am I just doomed to this because of USB periphs and 5 hard drives? or is something wrong inside.
