Hello All...

Playing with an old A7V ASUS system that my boys are using and swapped out a CPU and suddenly I'm getting a long beep then shutdown during post. I can't get to the BIOS and I have already cleared the BIOS manually and still no post.. I have swapped the CPU's back twice but still no go... I a single long beep is usally a memory error and I have swapped them around and tried 1 stick at a time (I have 3.) same result...

Any ideas??? Suggestions???

Thanks..

Try clearing cmos? by moving the jumper to clear cmos pins (if there is one) press power button a few times and putting it back. If no jumper, pull the battery let it sit out for 30 minutes, press power button a few times, put it back. Of course this is all done while pc is unplugged.

Thanks Quicksilver,

Tried that... Mine has the two soldier points to short across... No effect...

Any other ideas... 🙂

Aside from taking the whole build apart again, cleaning it with a can of compressed air and some isopropyl alcohol. Then doubling checking you plugged everything back in and in the right spots? Uh... no. Other than replacing the memory with a new set.

your heat sink might not be properly seated and your cpu is going into thermal shutdown.... or you didn't plug the square 4pin cpu power connector on motherboard.

Deepstar,

That was my inital thought also but I reset the heatsink and even changed CPU's thinking I may have damaged one... Still no go...

I'm beginning to think I may have damaged the board during the Heatsink install... It takes a ton of pressure to get that clip secured.. Oh how I don't miss the socket A days...

Thanks again.!
