The original Lone Ranger was well before my time, but even with Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp together again, I think it still has the potential to be fun. Given the crew behind this, I'm hoping for some of the whimsical humor like we saw in the first Pirates of the Caribbean (Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is the only reason to watch the movie) and a strong hero out of the Lone Ranger himself.

So, uh... here's the trailer:

Any thoughts? Tired of all the new trailers yet? :p Ah, I just looked it up and this movie has a 250 million dollar budget.... Fortunately, with Johnny Depp in the movie, it won't go John Carter on us.

I actually kind of like Gore Verbinski. I thought Rango was pretty awesome and I'm not much of a cartoon guy; The Weather Man was decent too. Will definitely see this unless it gets awful reviews from those I trust.

It started off good, then I saw depp and barfed. Its too goofy. I want serious.

I honestly saw disney and then depp and thought its going to be a pirates type movie. Sure enough as I thought that the pirates logo came on.

My god, Superman, Hannibal Lecter, Bates Motel, Iron Man 17 and now this. There's millions of musicians playing millions of songs that don't sound the same, but Hollywood is on a never ending recycle cycle.

This is one of those that run time is going to make/break. I fear it's going to suffer the recent trend of overly long. 2+ hours long. If it were cut down to to 90'ish minutes it would likely be much more enjoyable. The later Pirates of the Caribbean movies suffered that fate. There's only so many over the top scenes a viewer can take before they get bored and the thing starts to drag on.

... with Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp together again...

Yeah it makes little sense here. She's married to Tim Burton who obviously loves Depp, so that's why they're usually together in movies. This has no connection to Burton AFAIK though so it's odd they're paired up again.

I bet they all get dressed up like nightmare before Christmas characters and have freaky group sex

I enjoy the 150min movie more than the 90.

no thats the point. Its a goofy family movie. I want a dark dramatic, struggle with issues and overcome the odds to be a hero type movie. The lone ranger could be so bad ass but its always wasted

Stop the freaking presses: I just realized that Johnny Depp plays Tonto.

I'm now 100% more interested in seeing this,.
