Rejected alternative

I can't believe they chose what they did when they had some normal options like the above

That was the logo they used when they were bidding for it and it was perfect as the ribbon represented London (the Thames). Why spend more money redesigning, and especially when it turns out to be well, frankly, crap!

No kidding. That logo is perfectly fine. I actually like it.

I can't believe they chose to go with this new screwed up one (and they spent $$$ on it).

You know how it goes...some well to do bureaucrat's wife is banging an artist on the side who is working for some non-descript art shop. Said wife puts it into the ear of the bureaucrat that current logo isn't artistic enough and needs to be improved and she knows just the one to do her...I mean it. Art shop gets the contract and the wife now has a sweet new pad from which her and her lover can bump uglies.

Reminds me of the Simpsons where homer creates the deadly Springey Mascot for the olympics in Springfield.

British Airways was the best, when old maggie covered up the new tail design, and it was promptly changed back at a huge cost (£80m?) or something.

some the highlights of the comments.

Looks just like a window I recently kicked a ball through.

"It will evolve" they say. Well it better do as it currently looks like something that crawled out of the primeval swamp.

ROFLLMAO

currently going through the other comments.

Hahahaha. While that IS a horrible logo, if you look at it for a while (and have a good imagination), it can be a lot of things all in one...

Someone running
Someone ice skating
Someone figure skating
Someone shot-putting
Someone in mid-dive from a diving board
Someone pole-vaulting
Someone doing gymnastics on a springboard

I haven't been able to find someone swimming yet...

Ever since the Lisa Simpson comment, I can't see anything else. My eyes! they're burning!

honestly to me it look like (after the lisa comment to) someone BLOWING

$800k for a logo?!?!?! WTF! $800k should get you the website, a few commercials, and a few billboards.

Well it's 800k for the entire style and branding. The logo is just the pinnicle of it.

Comment from the office here: "It looks like Lisa Simpson giving oral relief of a sexual kind to Bart". This comment came from someone who's way past his 40's by the way, it wasn't a sarcastic just out of school 18 year old...

uhhh....which part is Bart and which part is Lisa?

Looks closer to broken glass to me.

i about died when i went back to look at the logo again after reading this, it is way apparent to me with that suggestion. too funny.

meh, it always seems everyone hates Olympic Logos. In time you'll all not think twice about it.

In this perspective, it's not that terrible............I'm looking at you Sydney. On the other hand, there were some pretty fantastic ones that put this to absolute shame.

WTF?????????????????????????

Romulus and Remus being suckled by a wolf, representing the beginnings of Rome.
Nothing WTF about it.
