1) do you know anything about the MOnarchy in britain? It holds no power.
2) Ken Livingstone will not apolagise. He resigned from his political party because they didnt want him to run.
3) He still gets a sizable sum from a company who he is no longer employed by. Would still cause him to be thrown out of any position over here. I could go on about corrupt america here but I wont I can go on about the subject from Macdonalds to 4by4s.

No he doesn't. He GOT a sizeable settlement 3 years ago.

Look up the words "severance" and "deferred compensation."

who cares what the brits think, especialy about politics.

We should listen to those that let a mentally ill family rule them for centuries?

You are in a riling mood today! You don't want me to debate the validity of that response, do you? ;)

Cheers,

Andy

I would suggest mentall illness happens at a far more common rate in THAT family than the average British or American family....

My point was that a monarchy is more like a regime than our system of govt., a bad analogy by many in attemtping to label our current president.

The history of the Royal families imperialism, colonialism, occupation, raping, pillaging, plundering of the earth is fairly well documented (ah, the good ole days) and I doubt Bush could ever catch up by himself, even if Daddy had given him a head start.

So how much $$$$$ do they have anyway, I figure a good half dozen centuries of raping the planet of it's wealth systematically would have to add up, do they have any 300 yr old swiss accounts worth sexdecillions? Just the jewels and gold alone.....

I remember when they counted the Queen's money for the first time, that clear box, 4 people tallying with none of them aware of each others totals, etc....
Any reliable gossip on her bottom line?

I expect so.

Regime - yes, powerful regime in comparison - no. I guess that would be the point there.

You never know your luck ;)

Officially I believe it's ~£100 million. Realistically - quite a LOT more, as most of that is held in trust funds (grandchildren and the like - and a convienient hidey hole). You might already know this but the Queen's accounts are subject to special measures. They are reviewed only every 10 years and only by thr prime minister and chancellor of the exchequer in person. They (accounts, bonds, stock, etc) are not public knowledge, taxable (still, I think?) nor can they be taken away (this was agreed, I believe, to ensure that the monarchy could be perpetual and not in any danger of bankruptcy).

Cheers,

Andy
