Lon beep on Asus P4PE

Hi hope it's in the correct forum ...

My Asus P4PE has given me since the beginning a lot of problems but now it seems to be down 4 good.

As I start up the pc I get the bios screen (Asus image) and I get a very high pitched long beep that continues.

I changed every component on my mobo including psu but nothing helped.
Also reset bios but also without a result - seems like the bios is broken down

Any suggestions ?

to clarify, does the computer actually boot and is operable?

when the image comes up hit delete to get into the bios. then turn off the asus image, save and restart. If it is giving you any boot errors, you will be able to see them that way.

Well, system is NOT usable.
I can not get anymore in Bios.
Can even not use ALT + F2 which is used to update bios before it actually loads everything ... this is also used as
recovery tool when bios crashes but this is not possible neither ....

seems like the keyboard is pressed constantly ...

But I tried already with 3 different kb's also

1 Long Beep indicates a problem with memory in the first bank, usually an unseated memory module

Try pushing extremely hard straight down on the memory (don't break anything though)

I know but I have changed it to other banks and tried other mem with same result ...
it's not an mem error ....
it's an irritating high pitched noise and my pc hangs.

I see onscreen my videocard and I would not see that if it was a mem prob (I guess).
I get one normal beep saying that everythings OK and then comes the Asus logo and the sounds starts and pc hangs

so it does come on, and gets stuck on that screen, stops and screams.

every component on your motherboard you've swapped? video card, sound card, processor, ram?

try unplugging everything not necessary for it to post. meaning only leave the video card and 1 stick of ram in (take out all other cards, and unplug the ide cables from the motherboard and see if it does the same thing. if it does, we can rule out the things you unplugged causing the problem.

Did that, been there 🙂

Guess it has 2 be the mobo.

I now only try with vga and 1 mem stick ... I did even then swap psu, cpu, mem, and vga
But same result.

Think bios has crashed or is stuck

I had a similar thing with an Asus board not too long ago. Have you tried removing the clock battery and unplugging it from the wall? Try leaving it for 24 hours and see what happens. That seemed to fix my problem.

I did remove the battery also but not 4 24 hours ...
will do that but guess it's dead ... well comes with 3 years warranty.
Although I hope I can exchange it for another Asus or the new Gigabyte
