That's the 3rd dumb thing you've said in this thread:

CNN is racist-because they're asking people who lived through segregation if they ever thought a black guy would be slated to win the presidency? Are you an idiot?

You didn't know Barack was a name until last year. And yet, with all this coverage, you still can't fucking spell it. Since you clearly cannot read, voting may be a challenge for you.

To say it's not momentous is clearly coming from the mouth of a white guy who never went through what blacks have gone through in this country.

I didn't address this because of your political stance, Bill. I just can't stand stupidity of such magnitude. Please pull your tall, smug head out of your red/white/blue ass.

If you believe that people are different because of their skin color then yes it is a momentous occasion. Are we all the same, or different, or what?

Take a history class. Seriously. It's embarassing. Are you really going to ignore the hundreds of years of history of racial inequality in this country? Are you gonna act like there aren't still numerous threats against this man's life because of the power he's about to achieve and the color of his skin? If you want to ignore all of that, I don't even know what to say to you.

quit living in the past and do something about your future. no one ever got anywhere playing the victim card

What I don't get is if somebody is even like 1% black, they are 100% black in the eyes of all.

Tiger Woods is another example... Barack Obama is another example...

I think the main thing is if they look black

if they could pass for 100% caucasian than I don't think anyone would consider them black no matter what % black they are

Or, just be a dumbass and sit there with a two word insult that could be planted into any disagreement at any point on either side, and feel good about yourself for your faux-contribution.

Fuck man, lay of the personal attacks. You first post had 6 insults, and now this. Stop crying and maybe people will be inclined to listen to you.

Nope. Sorry, man. In recent years, I've become far more impatient with stupidity. I used to be diplomatic in the way I approached people with ridiculous opinions. I still am calm and politely conversational when people who have differing views from mine have intelligent, thoughtful reasoning to support their ideas. But someone who says nothing other than "stop crying?" What did that accomplish? What kind of contribution to a debate is that?

And then you, stating "CNN is racist!" because they asked people who went through much of their lives being treated as less-than-citizens how they feel about this election; then misspelling one of the candidate's names (I'd be saying the same thing to you if you wrote out John Mcain as so many people do)...and you want me to be all nice and rosey about that? Ignorance, uneducated babble, opinions with no legitimate backing, etc, all runs rampant in this country (in every political spectrum on every side). I refuse to be "ok" with it any longer.

Having said all that, after numerous nonsense posts, you finally got to a point in your last one: you feel that by treating a black man's accomplishment as somehow more important than a white's, we are continuing the racial divide. It's a valid hypothesis, however, I don't feel that a recognition of the historical impact of this election is doing such a thing. If Obama is elected president, he'll still have a job to do to the satisfaction of the American people. If he fucks up, I would hope that repercussions for him would be the same as for a white president. But in this moment, on this day, I see nothing wrong with noting the fact that "hey, for centuries, blacks were given little or no opportunity in this country. They were enslaved, then Jim Crow'd, segregated, etc. And here, in 2008, a black man may well become the most powerful man in the country." What's wrong with recognizing that as an event of some importance?

The reporters are trying so hard to make a big story out of today.
They keep interviewing people that voted and it goes like this almost every time:

Cnn: So you voted today
Voter: Yes
Cnn: Are you excited about voting today ?
Voter: yeah
Cnn: It is really a historical event today isn't it "
Voter: Yeah, it is

Cnn: There you have it, you can see the excitement in the voters !

They also keep hoping for a voting machine disaster.
They are hurting so bad for stories they keep putting on stories where 4 voting machines didn't work, or where someplace opened 10 minutes late.
They're hoping to strike gold.

Cnn: So you voted today
Voter: HELL YEAH! Gotta keep the terrorist out of office! We already had one guy blow up the Trade Centers in office, using missiles loaded with suicide-bombing Muslims! He also killed JFK, and they're covering up global warming! The chemtrails from airplanes are what's doing it all! TINFOIL HATS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!

The next day, "Voter" will have a book deal, three movie contracts, and appear on 5 talk shows.

Ah, an attack on my reading abilities, very clever. :) However, you'll note that I addressed 3 or 4 other things you said. I guess if you don't want to address those, however (or for that matter, continue the discussion of that one point I "validated"), you don't have to. Shrug.

I hope not because we let too much shit slide already. (Read that as stop letting shit slide.)

I don't see it as important if the black people only vote for him because he's black. That's a shitty reason to vote, and MLK would be pissed off too. He didn't get shot so black people could help continue a racist divide in this country. He fought to have the color divide broken.

Black people + democrats voting together does not equal some great event or occasion. If you can get 51+% of the white people voting for a black person, I still don't see it as being important. If you want something important, he needs to win and do a good job because we've had some shitty democrats as president.

Not everyone is equal, and it's because of skin color. There IS NOT liberty & justice for all in America, and this is directly due to a persons skin color. A person of color running for President period is near mometous, the fact he has a great chance of winning is mind boggling.

and to NaOH, living in the past? Slavery may be dead, but racism is alive and well in America. I see it everywhere I go. A black person isn't playing the victim card simply by pointing it out what is clearly fucking out there.

don't apply to whome? The fact you treat everyone equal wouldn't mean shit to a Black person who was pulled over by the police and Tasered because of his skin color - happens often. Tell that to the family of Julian Alexander, a black man who was killed while on his front lawn last week. He hadn't done shit, was just standing there. The police "mistook" him for a bugler they were looking for and killed him. The fact you treat everyone equal doesn't mean shit, sorry.

Really? You addressed what I said about your accusation of CNN being racist? You addressed the fact that you can't spell a major candidate's name, yet feel you understand how this election will impact the country? Awesome, guess I missed that. Was it really that important to keep trolling to bring up a thread 24 hours later? Yes, I addressed your questions. If I can't understand the impact of the election based on my misspelling of a major candidates name, then neither can you! This is funny :)

I can't control other people's ethics.

Also the police probably mistook Mr. Alexander for a burglar because he was sneaking around at with something in his hand at night at a property where there was a call for a robbery. They obviously fucked up big time, but why even assume that it was because of his race?

You're right, it is funny. Because you don't say anything regarding what you're asked, then act like someone is absolutely insane for pointing that out. My lord. I don't know about funny, but it is pretty impressive...
