Not quite sure that's shipping gouging, but shipping deception. I guess he figures he's better to get the money he wants from it by making the shipping rediculously high, either that or he wants to circumvent eBay's listing and selling fees.

It's actually not deceptive. The buyer knows fully well what the seller's doing. eBay needs to crack down on these kind of auctions if they want to see a bigger cut though.

Also a nice dodge for refund requests.

Seller escapes massive eBay fees though. Quite sneeky. I've never seen an auction with shipping THAT high for such a (relatively) small item.

It is a way around the ebay fee. The buyer still got a good deal for that device even with the "high" shipping charges. This is no worst than giving OEM software free with a paper clip.

Here's why it's deceptive...
It's unreasonable to assume that any person would suspect a $600 shipping charge.
People on AOL can not read (or are exempt).
A good percentage of ebay shoppers are blissfully ignorant.
It's inherently dishonest.
The odds that some retarded shmo who just got a computer the day before yesterday will bid on the item are very high. The bidder will be upset and the seller will be upset when the bidder is done going "I didn't know there was a shipping cost".
It's also irresponsible.
It's also clearly designed to circumvent ebay fees.

Well, then perhaps people who care should report these kinds of deceptive auctions to ebay next time they see it.

you can bet that eBay will do something about this. they won't stand for losing potential revenue.

You would have to be retarded to think a $800-$1000 dollar device is going to be had for less than $100. Like I said the person still got a good deal on this device. If you are that dump it is unlikly you could even use ebay.
