I just got a phonecall from John at the American Credit Union or some crap...

He talked for about 10 seconds and said if I was interested I'd have to call them back...

I used to be a telemarketer in highschool, these people do nothing now a days... That law really helped out...

It was probably a recording.

We get cryptic messeges on the answering machine asking to call an 800 number back every now and then. I assume that gets by the DNC list because they don't actually try to sell you anything, they just leave a messege and hang up. Once you call them, you've "shown interest" as far as the DNC law is concerned, and they can call you for 3months/whatever the time limit is.

our number is on the block list w/ telemarkerts... sadly this does not include the fire companies and other things of that nature from solicitiing us

we do give to them when we can, i mean its a good cause for the community but lately money is tight w/ us and they call like every 2 frikkin weeks!

other then that... we dont get the telemarker calls anymore

I'm about 90% sure this wasn't a recording, he messed up in the middle... and if it is a recording, I laugh at them for not redoing it...

He also said the number really quick, only once... when I was in marketing we were supposed to repeat the number to let it sink in...

PSA- Recorded calls from for-profit companies are illegal. Find out who it was and lay down the smack next time.

If you want to donate to the local FD/PD, call them up directly and ask them who to make the check out to. In smaller towns, they'll sometimes hold pancake breakfasts and such where you can donate.

I'd never donate over the phone.

One thing I did catch was he said it was non-profit... I dunno, I didn't pay much attention...
