I just talked to a sales rep from Insight.com who was working out of Montreal, he used "aboot" and "tuccus"(spelling?) in the same sentence. 😛 😀

Sorry....just don't get to hear that every day 🙂

I think it's mostly an eastern Canada thing. I hardly hear it in western Canada.

btw, what the heck is "tuccus"?

Tookas, tucus, tuccus? Not sure how to spell it, but it means "arse" 🙂

Hehe, he was talking about this big ice storm that they just had in Montreal and how he was "aboot to freeze his tucus off" 🙂

It's a Quebec thing. And just to correct everyone, Eastern Canada isn't the correct way to describe Quebec. Quebec & Ontario are really Central as the Maritimes call themselves the Eastern part of Canada.

oiiiii how our country is messed up!

Uhhh...I live in Nova Scotia (yes, that is Eastern Canada) and I've never heard some one say 'aboot'. I'm guessing you mean like, the word 'a' then the foot wear? If so, I've never heard it. But maybe you mean the word 'a' and then 'boat', as in sailboat? If that's what you mean, then yes, that gets said in Eastern Canada all the time.

I've never heard anyone use 'aboot' either. The first time I heard it was in that beer commercial. Perhaps someone with French as their first language pronounces it this way?? Or it's an East Coast pronounciation? This 'aboot' thing has always puzzled me.
🙂

Oh yea, that beer commercial kicked tucus!

Cool thing is that my sister got me a T-shirt with the transcript of that commercial on the back

Its even funnier when they say 'eh' three times in a sentence (yeah I know not all do but its still funny).

Lots of the stereotypes are native to Ontario.
Another canadian and western new york thing is "pop" instead of soda.
