I don't know what's wrong above but the form errs out and won't let me edit that link. Silly (fuse) talk has a short fuse and burns too fast! :laugh:

EDIT: Most of the sites in the central part of the 'States are just showing ground clutter so the shield of precip is far less impressive than even that composite reveals.

That's because they don't have contributing NX88 sites supplying information to the composite renderer. 🙂

yeah, but i know that radar doesn't stop at the border, so obviously the rain must.

The beam goes out 150 -450 nm from the site. The renderings are always enhanced to make it easier to see what's going on. We have our own radar system on the ship and sometimes that screen gets awfully busy. In clear air mode flocks of birds and even swarms of insects will show 10 dBz or more!

NX88 at higher angles of inclination will only show heavy weather (TRW) typically at the fringe of the range as the beam has considerable elevation. This feature is of particular interest to aviators as it's quite undesirable to fly small aircraft in the vicinity of hail bearing cummulonimbus clouds! :Q
