I am playing just messing around right now while my GF watches a show, a $5 sit and go. I have gotten 4 of a kind, about 5 straights, 2 flushes, 3 of a kind a bunch of times, and a bunch of double pairs. The thing is, so has everyone else.

Party Poker is such a joke.

You're the only one with 4 of a kind with 4's[/b], yes. What are you confused about?

last time I played party poker I had a small strait flush, and got beat by a higher strait flush. (4 people at the table including me)

tell me what are the odds of that ever happening?

Was there 4 consecutive same-suited cars on the table? :p

You play *a lot* more hands online than you would in the same amount of time IRL. Yes, you get a lot of big hands but you also muck a lot more bad hands. You remember the big hands more, so it might seem like it's rigged.

Sounds to me like you just had a hot streak. I played in about 15 $10+1 SNGs on Party today and other than some bad beats due to fish, nothing terribly out of the ordinary happened and I made $60.

It's hosted out of the caribbean, they fix the odds. You have to be stupid to play in those casino's. At least in vegas you know the nevada gaming board is regulating them.

It's actually headquartered in London, and is a publicly traded company. Their software is independently certified, and it completely secure. You'd have to be stupid to think a company valued at over $8b with a daily PROFIT of over $1m would risk losing customers by skewing odds.

Vegas is corrupt and the NGCB is paid off to turn a blind eye on what happens in the casinos. For example: http://www.lasvegastribune.com/20050812/headline1.html

This was 1 sit and go tournament. It lasted about 45 mins. And no, i didn't play more hands in this S&G than I do on a friday night playing for 8 hours straight, and i didn't see as many full houses all night in the 8 hours than I personally had myself, nor did I see a 4 of a kind.

EDIT: and I agree with the poker stars comment. i first played poker stars then tried party poker. poker stars cards come out way more "real" than party poker cards do.

Party Poker is a joke. There are many other sites out there with much higher integrity, so there's no reason to put up with the stuff that goes on at PP.

Ever heard of variance? There was this one episode of pokerstars invitation when David Sklansky got dealt pocket aces 5 or 6 times in one tournament. I can't wait till you next post about a dry spell and getting crap for a whole tournament.

"The Law of Truly Large Numbers"

Explain?

Here's a very easy to understand explanation.

In a small sample space (say a million), you have an event that is extremely unlikely to happen. Say the probability is 1 in a million. But as you increase the sample space (say by 10x, 100x, 1000x), this even will be expected to occur more and more often. As the sample space gets "Truly Large", this event is expected to occur, and may be expected to occur many times based on how large the sample space is.

Because Party Poker plays so many rounds of poker per day, you can say the number of round overall becomes a "truly large number." Therefore, such seemingly improbable hands such as a Royal Straight Flush, Royal Flush, and 4 of a kind, occur much, much more often than you would see in a real life poker game.
