What a damn n00b!
He must have grown up in the 60's with all the radiation scare.

I grew up in the fifties. And that makes me what?

rads? no. Eye damage due to light that close? yes

The light eminating from your LCD will damage your eyes over time. In less time than the rads you get from your cell phone.

Right, because the light from an LCD contains some super damaging waves that other sources of light doesn't emit that will damage your eyes?

As much as I tend to think most of this is bunk, stare directly at a lightbulb for an hour. Now, tell my your eyes don't hurt at all.

There is no 'radiation' damage in the sense that the layman thinks of radiation, but staring at a lightsource (backlit screen) AFAIK does cause more eye strain than an indirectly lit object (i.e. Paper)

And the rads you get from your cell phone will damage your health in less time than the rads from the light bouncing off your walls.

read my post above. The people who think it is the "radiation" are fools, but it isnt the best thing in the world for your eyes.

Put something in front of the lightbulb that diffuses the light over an area, and is it goign to feel the same? How is an LCD screen any different than a TV or CRT screen?

Your eyes have pupils which control the amount of light that hits your retina... if an LCD screen was really that bright, our pupils would be the size of pinpoints as we use them. Obviously they're not.

If they retain their shape when I take them off, does that mean they're dirty? If not, then I certainly don't wear dirty skivvies.
