Even though it's possible to run different cards it's pretty bad value for money, since SLI doesn't work for different cards.

Forget value for a moment and the versatility of the new technology should impress you :) Now a user can have that ATI AIW and a 6800GT in the same system. No more trading off excellent OGL performance for the best multimedia capable card or vice-versa because.....you really can have it all now  Value is term which varies in definition among people so what you see as exorbatantly expensive for the privledge, someone else sees as the solution they have been waiting/wishing for :light:

There you go  Honestly I'm almost surprised at the resistance to the new tech, but most of it seems to be the same value argument so as it becomes more mainstream, that one will get squashed and those that fear change and/or suffer from sticker shock will have little left to complain about. It is just a matter of :clock:

True, but the added cost of another system to put the other card in offsets most the cost of the nF4 SLI system with both cards in it. I realize many of us here have multiple systems already but this is still a "what a great new option" tech to me :)

Don't forget super/skt7 allowed AMD , Intel, and Cyrix to run on the same board in the last century. If there is a perception that a market exists for something it will happen. I can't invision one for P4+A64 though.

lolz......i find this pretty funny, nvidia's SLI actually allows ATi's pci-e cards to even work on it's platform.

Wow, thats really stupid, the cards are so equal that you couldn't go wrong with either. Buying both is nuts

Think outside the box brudda. The cards used just prove it can be done. I see a dual Opteron with SLI workstation with a nV Quadro for doing work and a another card of choice for gaming, or other diverse combos.

Thats my current setup (actually my NV rig is OOS at the moment) and a monitor with dual inputs makes it work. Not everyone has the luxury of multiple systems..or room, or an understanding wife :)

With some driver work perhaps they could get the cards to work concurently, which would bring up some interesting possibilities.
