LOL**Non-system Hard Drive shuts off when computer is on.

Randomly while doing something on the computer, nothing of note, my other hard drives shut down, literally it sounds like I am turning off my computer.

The computer after that slowly locks up, getting worse and worse and then finally just locks up until I restart it.

Lemme know if you have any ideas on what to diagnose or what to do.

My 2 other HDD's do the same thing. One has XP on it, the other is just a backup drive. I think they power down after a certain period of inactivity. Though it doesn't affect my system drive.

And when I access the drives I can hear them spinning up.

Did you try going to Control Panel > Power Options > Power Schemes > Settings for Always On power schemes > and setting "Turn off hard disks:" to "Never"?
