Well I'm sitting there right now.
I wouldn't say that the laws &quot;permit it&quot; - the laws are probably more extreme than in the rest of the world for certain &quot;crimes&quot;.
However, when the US does things like blow up the Chinese Embassy (accidentally of course *cough*) - then protecting American copyright property will naturally be of a lower priority.

I still think Napster should re-locate to Iraq - it would be a nice touch 🙂

When I finally go back home to Scotland - I can forget Napster et al anyway - only have damn 56K modems in the village where I live - I'll miss my 1.5mbps connection!

Actually when I was in Cyprus back in '88/'89 I'm sure there were no copyright laws at all.
Nice climate and lots of chicks in the summer months - great location for any napster server admin types 🙂

You could goto shops and order tapes made up with any song from catalogues - must be great now with MP3 and CDR 🙂

We used to buy &quot;Lacoste&quot; fakes for 1.5 Cypriot Pounds (roughly US$2.5) wear them for one night then use them for dusters - they were great looking but one wash and they were halfway up your back...hehe!
If you wanted washable quality you had to get the 3 Pounds version!!! 🙂

FYI, Cyprus and Canada were my two favorite destinations at that point in time 🙂
