Well I'm sitting there right now.
I wouldn't say that the laws "permit it" - the laws are probably more extreme than in the rest of the world for certain "crimes".
However, when the US does things like blow up the Chinese Embassy (accidentally of course *cough*) - then protecting American copyright property will naturally be of a lower priority.
I still think Napster should re-locate to Iraq - it would be a nice touch 🙂
When I finally go back home to Scotland - I can forget Napster et al anyway - only have damn 56K modems in the village where I live - I'll miss my 1.5mbps connection!
