Has anyone ever had their cat have a nightmare? I heard of dogs getting dreams and sleep walking (such as a popular video of a dog running into a wall while sleeping), but never did I hear of a cat having nightmares lol.

My cat was sleeping in a ball all snug like usual, then I started hearing some faint meowing, and it got a bit more intense and she was shaking, but still sleeping. I decided to wake her up to break up the dream and she got up suddenly like WTF OMG bad dreamz!

Now I can't help but wonder, what would a cat have a nightmare about? A dog peeing in her litterbox? giant mice with venomous fangs? The food bowl running out for good? :p

She had a nightmare of you jerking off to a picture of Richard Simmons in his tight shorts.

Next time, spare your cat and close the door to the outhouse when your pants are down.

I've had one of my cats wake up with a leap straight in the air, then she looked around. It was like she just about had a dragonfly but woke up midjump.

Next time stick your hand in the middle of the curled up cat so all 4 paws can tear it to shreds.

Depends on a cat. Our previous cat used to have plenty of REM, she would meow in her sleep and her paws would twitch as if she was chasing someone. It's almost impossible to catch our current cat really sleeping. She naps most of the time with eyes slightly open. It's very rare that I can really catch her sleeping and I've never seen her REM.

Cats do dream. But rarely have I seen one of mine in an obviously nightmare. But one of our cats was sleeping about 2 months ago on the couch on her back. And her legs started twitching and her mouth started moving in her sleep. Then little noises and faint meows until she jolted herself out of sleep. Then she looked around in a daze like wtf.

I wonder what they dream about. Chasing mice, other cats, or dogs? My cats arent outside so outside of the birds that perch on our deck and the neighbors dog. They dont see that much in way of other animals.

I love it when short hair cats poof their tail if startled.

Mine does this all the time, it's a jarr. She'll round her back and jump back sometimes too.

This is actually how she sleeps most of the time.
