LOL, MT compared the $26,000 Honda Accord Coupe 6-speed V6 to the $50,000 MB CLK320

Damn, the Accord smoke the CLK's ass in acceleration and matched it in everything else.

0-60; 6.2 -- 7.46
1/4 mile; 14.54 @ 98.04 MPH -- 15.30 @ 91.82 MPH
Slalom; 63.1 MPH -- 62.3 MPH
Braking 60 -0; 127ft -- 126ft

And of course, the Accord gets better gas mileage, has more interior room, and more cargo room...BUT,

The Mercedes is still a Mercedes and you get what you pay for (even though the Accord was decked with leather and 17's compared to 16's for the CLK). I'll take the Accord :D

I would be singing honda's praises right now, but their 1988 engineering of my fuel filter is really pissing me off.

An hour ago, I was drenched in sweat, my pulse was going 180, and I was screaming angrily into oblivion louder than any man you've ever seen before.

Then I thought, "Hey, I can normally do this indoors while on ATOT!"

And that was that.

honda leather is like plastic compared to the supple MB stuff.

i assume this is the base CLK as well, since an AMG CLK or a V12 CLK would blow the doors off the accord.

The CLK320 is the base CLK, but they were comparing V6 coupes. And they were really trying to see if the CLK was worth TWO Accord Coupes.

I can understand paying $9,000 more for a BMW 330Ci, but I would NEVER pay $25,000 more for a CLK320.

Evad, I swear to all things holy. That filter is the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. Well, the filter and n00bs. But anyways.

The diagram is as follows from top down.

Pressure bolt, washer, banjo bolt (hollow), washer, fuel inlet hose, can type filter, washer, banjo bolt.

The pressure bolt was easy. But the banjo bolts didnt want to give. I even took another wrench, put it on the other bolt and tried to rip each of them apart. If one went, at least I could use the hexagonal filter inlet as better leverage. Nothing gave. I used enough torque to break a lug nut put on with an air wrench loose.

That thing is reallly pissing me off. I even have the service manual here.

the clk320 is too much like a v6 camaro... yeah, it looks cool, but its not really that fast, and you still have to put up with the car... wait, whats there to put up with?!?

i'd never buy a clk320 either... but if i had the money i wouldn't be cross-shopping an accord, thats for damned sure. i'd probably get an E or a 5 or a GS430.

I wouldn't cross shop them either, I'm just going by MT's comparison

Where did you get those stats?
Do all the web sites agree on those 0 to 60 numbers?
Honda is sweet, and if those 0 to 60 numbers are right, they are fast now.

The stats are from the latest issue of Motor Trend. The numbers are pretty accurate. The V6 Accord Sedan with 5-speed auto has been tested 0-60 in between 6.53 - 7.0 seconds.

Wow, so that begs the question, "How do the 2003 Camry, and 2003 Maxima compare?"

The Maxima keeps up, the Camry gets smoked.

Out of curiosity, is there any reason not to get an Acura TL over a decked out Accord?

you pay the extra money for a Mercedes because it has a higher 'panty dropping coefficient'.

LOL, only if you want to get the panties dropped on a 60 year old woman:Q:eek:

If you want to drop the panties of a hot chick, you're gonna need a BMW.

I'm sure there are plenty of hotties who would not hesitate to drop them in a CLK.
but then, getting them to drop in an accord isn't hard either... CLK will give you the extra edge though

That's weird, chicks seem to flock to my SL 55 AMG.

I have a cute little 2001 Honda Civic coupe. I'm absolutely thrilled with the mileage after driving a Jimmy for two years. Drove from Los Angeles to Vegas on one tank ($15) of gas.

Peace,

I was pondering about that article for awhile after I got the magazine... I was impressed with the comparisions. You could buy 2 Accords for the price of 1 CLK. But still.... when you cruise down the roads, to the parties, clubs, fancy restaurants, or meeting girls, the CLK will look a helluva lot better than the Honda. If you're rich, of course.

Yay, let's compare a 5 year old car with one that was completely redesigned this year!

The new CLK will be worth 2 '03 Accords, just as the '98 CLK320 was worth 2 '98 Accords.

BTW, that 7.41s 0-60 run for the CLK seems awfully slow considering your good buddies at Edmunds tested the '98 CLK320 at 6.9s. :)
